TITLE: Loan Officer – Wagner Location
SUPERVISED BY: VP of Operations
STATUS: Full-time
PURPOSE: Responsible for interviewing applicants for loans and processing various loan applications. Gathers background information and analyzed loan applicant’s credit history. Approves or denies loan applications based on analysis. Operate with moderate credit authority.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Represent the credit union to the members in a courteous and professional manner and provide prompt, efficient and accurate service in the processing of transactions.
2. Continuously and effectively cross selling our services and financial products. Maintaining an effective working knowledge of our lending and savings products, helping members determine the suitability of these products for their needs.
3. Responsible for the consumer and mortgage loans.
4. Providing basic lending services to members, including the quotation of loan rates and payment options.
5. Mail loan applications and/or information to members and prospective members.
6. Assist members with the loan application process to ensure completeness of information.
7. Gather background information on loan applicants by interviewing loan applicant.
8. Pull credit reports for accounts verify debts, and estimate monthly payments for any outstanding debts not listed and add them to debts on application.
9. Determine collateral needs and payment plans for members applying for loans.
10. Determine eligibility of loan co-maker from co-maker’s statement and credit rating.
11. Approve loan applications. If they do not fall within policy, send them to credit committee
12. Explain reasons for denial, explore options for members when loans are denied and send an adverse action form to the member.
13. Verify the accuracy of loan amounts and repayment terms on approved loan applications.
14. Complete loan documents and give them to the members for signatures.
15. Explain Credit Insurance Products that the credit union offers on each and every loan to ensure we helping the member be properly covered. This includes GAP, MCR, Credit Disability, and Credit Life Insurance. File claims for members on these products as needed.
16. Maintain transfer, periodic, ACH and payroll deduction payments on loan accounts.
17. Clean up exception loan reports on a regular basis to ensure payments are being processed correctly.
18. Clean up loan files in Laserfiche if closed.
19. Maintain insurance and title information is up to date and accurate. Make phone calls to collect title and insurance on outstanding loans. This includes filing UCC’s.
20. Release title work to appropriate address in a timely manner.
21. File legal recordings of mortgages and satisfactions.
22. Monitor loan accounts for delinquency. Follow up on delinquent loans by phone and mail to determine the reasons for delinquency and assist the member in developing plans to bring accounts to a current status. Document correspondence in the collection system. Ensure professional interface with members.
23. Ensure that your workstation is properly stocked with forms and supplies. Make sure your workstation is clean of empty soda cans, food wrappers and papers are disposed of properly – shredded.
24. Comply with BSA/AML and other credit union policies and procedures.
25. Report malfunctions of equipment used to the supervisor.
26. Backup credit union personal as assigned by management.
27. Performing other duties as directed by the President or VP of Operations.
